HKY 100 Mile Ultra Trail Race
The HKY 100 Mile Ultra Trail Race is Hickory’s inaugural 100 mile ultra event offered for solo runners and teams of 2 to 10 people. The event uses a 4 mile route that leads participants through a mix of terrain and returns to the start and finish area inside the Hickory Crawdads stadium.
The loop travels on double track farm trails believed to be old moonshine roads, single track hiking trails and the newly created Aviation Trail, then passes through Winkler Park and the stadium. The route is roughly 70% trails and 30% paved, and includes hills, descents, tight turns, roots, rocks and other trail features.
Measured elevation for the 100 mile distance exceeds 17,230 feet. The course includes several short steep climbs and two longer climbs of 0.65 miles each. Signage and markings will include cones, arrow signs and reflective tape to assist runners during night running.
Race entries are available as solo or team categories with teams formed of two up to ten members. The event description focuses on course character, surface composition and elevation rather than on timing details. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
