Event overview
The Hitchin Hard Half Marathon, Tough Ten Miler and Fierce Five Miler take place on 7 June 2026. All races start and finish at Hitchin Priory on Tilehouse Street, Hitchin. The half marathon is described as undulating and hilly and follows an out-and-back measured route via Preston village and Offley holes hill. There is a three hour cut-off time for the half marathon.

Registration is online only. A £2 discount applies for England Athletics affiliates on production of a URN. Refunds and deferrals are not normally offered; transfers to another runner are allowed prior to the race. If unable to run due to pregnancy or postpartum, a deferral to one of the following three years or a full refund is available.
Course, safety and services
The course starts on grass for about 200 yards then continues on country roads. It is fully marshalled, signposted with mile markers and includes five water stations. Race services listed for 2026 include a race bib with integrated timing chip, electronic timing and live results, baggage drop, on-course medical provision, toilets at Race HQ, drink stations, a race medal, downloadable finisher certificate, awards ceremony and merchandise/T-shirt purchase option. Gun times determine overall race positions; headphones are prohibited and the roads are not closed to traffic. Prizes are awarded to overall podium finishers and age-group winners.
