Hitchin Half Marathon and associated races
The event includes a measured half marathon plus shorter races on country roads around Hitchin. Distances offered:
- Half Marathon
- Tough 10 Miler
- Fierce 5 Miler
- Kid's Fun Run / Golden Mile
All races start and finish at Hitchin Priory. The half marathon is an out-and-back route that goes via Preston village and Offley Holes Hill. The course is hilly and undulating, with some flat sections later in the route. The surface includes about 200 yards on grass at the start before moving onto country roads.
Course services, entry and rules
The course is fully marshalled and signposted, with five water stations on the half marathon route and medical provision at start, on course and at the finish. Event features listed for recent years include a race bib with integrated timing chip, electronic timing and live results, baggage drop, medals, a race village with food and drink, toilets at Race HQ and an awards ceremony. A 3 hour cut-off time is stated for the half marathon.
Registration is online only and entry fees are listed on the event page (examples shown: half marathon £32, 10 miler £32, 5 miler £20, kid's run £4). Transfers to another runner are permitted before the race; refunds and deferrals are generally not offered, with specific provisions for pregnancy or postpartum situations.
