Event overview
The Hitchin Hard Half Marathon, Tough Ten Miler and Fierce Five Miler take place in Hitchin on 7 June 2026. The events are organised by Burnt Hare Events and start and finish at Hitchin Priory on Tilehouse Street. New routes are used for 2026. The half marathon is a measured out-and-back course via Preston village and Offley Holes Hill.

The course is hilly and undulating, leaving the Priory onto grass for about 200 yards before moving onto country roads. The half is fully marshalled and has five water stations. There is a three hour cut-off for the half marathon. Roads on the route are not closed to traffic, headphones are prohibited, and UK Athletics rules are followed for age-group prizes.
Electronic timing and online live results are provided and race bibs include integrated timing chips; overall race positions are determined by gun times. On-site provisions listed for 2026 include baggage drop, medical cover at start, finish and on course, toilets at Race HQ, race medals, a downloadable finisher certificate and an awards ceremony. High-quality T-shirts are available to purchase. Registration is online only; transfers between runners are allowed.
