Event overview
The Fred Hughes 10 mile is a local road race organised by the St Albans Striders running club. The event takes place on the rolling country lanes of Bedmond in St Albans. The race has been organised by the club since 1985. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 18 January 2026. This year the race also hosts the Hertfordshire Senior County Championships. The race uses St Columba’s College, King Harry Lane, St Albans as race headquarters (postcode AL3 4AW). Parking at the race HQ is limited; marshals will direct vehicles on the day. Public pay-and-display parking is available nearby at Westminster Lodge (postcode AL1 2DX), a short walk from the race HQ and the start. Rail access: St Albans Abbey is about 0.5 mile / 12 minute walk and St Albans City is about 1.5 miles / 30 minute walk.
