Event overview
The Fred Hughes 10 mile is a club-organised road race held in St Albans. It has been run by the St Albans Striders since 1985. The course uses rolling, undulating country lanes around Bedmond in the St Albans area. The event is also hosting the Hertfordshire Senior County Championships for 2026. Location, entry and logistics
The race headquarters is at St Columba's College, King Harry Lane, St Albans AL3 4AW. Parking at the race HQ is limited; pay-and-display parking is available nearby at Westminster Lodge (AL1 2DX). Rail access is possible - St Albans Abbey is about 0.5 mile (a 12 minute walk) and St Albans City is about 1.5 miles (a 30 minute walk). The HQ offers bike parking facilities. Past events have included number collection the day before, on-course marshals, signposting, post-race refreshments, and a finisher T-shirt and medal.
