Event overview
The Fred Hughes 10 mile is a local road race organised by the St Albans Striders running club. It has been held since 1985 on the rolling country lanes of Bedmond in St Albans. The next edition is scheduled for 18 January 2026. This year the race also hosts the Hertfordshire Senior County Championships. Organisers note the event as a option for runners preparing for spring marathon training or stepping up from 10k.
Location and travel
The race headquarters is at St Columba's College, King Harry Lane, St Albans. Limited parking is available at the race HQ; marshals will direct on the day. There is public pay and display parking nearby at Westminster Lodge (AL1 2DX), a short walk from both the race HQ and the race start. Rail access: St Albans Abbey is about 0.5 mile (approximately a 12-minute walk) and St Albans City about 1.5 miles (approximately a 30-minute walk).
