Course Information
The Hiraethog Trail Guided Run Challenge is a one-day, guided event on a linear trail. The route covers a distance of 68 km from Pentrefoelas on the outskirts of Snowdonia to Bodfari in the Vale of Clwyd. The course involves 1,840 m of ascent.
The trail follows waymarked paths through areas such as Mynydd Hireathog and Clocaenog Forest. The route passes hidden reservoirs and remote land, offering views towards Northern Snowdonia and the Clwydian Hills.
Support and Logistics
Participants are led by qualified guides throughout the journey. The day is divided into six sections, each approximately 6-9 miles long. Support checkpoints are provided at the end of each section, offering food, drink, first aid, and access to spare gear.
Organizers note an average moving pace of just under 4 mph, describing it as a brisk walking pace with an emphasis on continuous progress rather than speed. The pace is set by the run leaders.
As the route is linear, transport from the finish in Bodfari to the start is available for participants who wish to leave their vehicle at the finish.
Finisher Items
Upon completion, participants receive a wooden medal and a certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
