Hiraethog Trail Guided Run Challenge
The event is a one day, fully guided and supported run following the 68 km linear trail from Pentrefoelas on the outskirts of Snowdonia to Bodfari in the Vale of Clwyd. The route includes 1840 m of ascent and covers remote upland terrain.
The trail crosses the high ground of Mynydd Hiraethog and follows the way marked route through Clocaenog Forest. The course passes reservoirs and open, wild areas that offer views west towards Northern Snowdonia and east towards the Clwydian Hills.
Support on the day includes fully qualified guides and checkpoint provision. The day is split into six sections of roughly 6 to 9 miles each. At each checkpoint participants can access spare gear, first aid, food and drink. Moving time is planned at just under 4 mph on average, with walking on climbs, jogging on flat sections and running descents; the pace is set by the run leaders.
As the route is linear, participants can book transport from Bodfari back to the start when leaving vehicles at the finish. Spaces are limited. On completion participants receive a wooden medal and a certificate to recognise their achievement. The event is organised by Out Fit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
