Hippo Dash
The Hippo Dash takes place in Hutto, Texas, offering a community focused athletic event centered at 400 Park Ave. The course consists of flat, paved park paths and features a "Stampede over the Bridges" experience. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids Dash (1 Mile)
The event provides timed results for participants and includes a five kilometer training plan as part of the registration. Participants receive a custom medal and a shirt upon completion of their race. The event also features a post-race after-party with a finish line Hippo dance party, raffle prizes, and awards for top finishers.
In addition to the running events, the venue hosts a vendor expo and a "Fun Zone." Community involvement is a central theme, as the event partners with the Hutto Resource Center Food Pantry for the Hungry Hippo Drive. Attendees are encouraged to contribute non-perishable dessert items, such as boxed cake mixes, canned frosting, or fruit fillings, to support local families during the holiday season.
Adults aged 18 and over have the option to volunteer for event setup on the morning of the race. Volunteers who assist with these duties are provided with a free race entry and bib to participate in an event later that same morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
