Event overview
The Wine Run is a chip-timed 5k run/walk held at August Hill Winery in Utica, Illinois on May 9, 2026. The race starts and finishes on Mill Street in front of the winery. The course follows the I&M Canal and is described as very flat and fast.
Registration, packet pickup and participation
Registration includes a T-shirt (ring spun cotton), a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, a chip-timed race bib, online results, and a pour of wine. Minors receive a discounted registration that includes a shirt, medal and bib but no wine glass or wine pour. Packet pickup is race day only and opens shortly before the event.
Awards and rules
Top three finishers in each age category receive a custom age group award. Age categories are in 10-year increments: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 & over. Competitive runners must start with the first group to be eligible for age group awards. Age group awards are available only on the day of the event.
Other information
Walking is allowed. Strollers are permitted but not recommended due to uneven ground; children in strollers may participate free without registration. Dogs are not allowed on site because USDA rules prohibit them on the produce and vegetable farm. The local charity partner is Friendship House of Illinois, which provides services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
