August Hill Wine Run 5k
The August Hill Wine Run 5k takes place on Saturday, April 17, 2027, at August Hill Winery in Utica, Illinois. The course starts and finishes on Mill Street in front of the winery and follows the I&M Canal; the route is described as flat.
The event is a chip-timed 5k run/walk, timed and scored by J3 Timing, with results posted online. Registered participants receive a T-shirt (Super Soft Ring Spun Cotton), a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, a race bib, and a pour of wine. Free race photos are available for download.
Packet pickup is available on race day only. Age group awards are offered in 10-year categories from 1-9 through 80 and over; the top three finishers in each category receive custom awards that must be picked up the day of the event and will not be shipped afterward.
The event permits walking, allows leashed dogs, and permits strollers although strollers are not recommended because of uneven ground on the course. Minors may participate with a discounted registration; minors do not receive the wine glass or the wine pour. A virtual participation option is available, with an option to have a packet shipped for an additional fee.
The local charity partner for the event is Friendship House of Illinois, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
