August Hill Wine Run 5k
The August Hill Wine Run 5k is an annual timed 5k run/walk held at August Hill Winery in Utica, Illinois (106 Mill St, Utica, IL 61373). The race starts and finishes on Mill Street in front of the winery.
The course follows the I&M Canal and is described as flat and fast. The event is chip timed and scored by J3 Timing and results are posted online at J3Timing.com.
Registration includes a Super Soft Ring Spun Cotton t-shirt, a shatterproof collapsible portable wine glass, a finisher medal, a race bib, and a pour of wine during the event. Packet pickup is race day only and opens one hour before the event.
Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in ten year categories: 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & Over. Competitive runners must start with the first group to be eligible for awards and awards must be picked up at the registration table the day of the event.
Minors receive a discounted registration that includes a shirt, medal, and bib but not the wine glass or wine pour. Strollers are allowed but not recommended because of uneven ground; children in strollers may participate free without registration. Walking is allowed. Dogs are permitted if friendly and on a leash.
A virtual participation option is available; registrants can pick up a packet and run independently or request packet shipping for a fee. The local charity partner is Friendship House of Illinois, which provides services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
