High Uinta Half Marathon
The High Uinta Half Marathon takes place near the Kamas and Francis area in Utah. The event offers multiple distances for participants, including a standard running race and a virtual option. This race is categorized as a high altitude event, with a starting point located at one of the highest elevations for races in the state.
The course features a significant descent of 2,600 feet over the distance. It consists of 99% decline with very few flat sections or inclines. The route passes through natural scenery including aspens, pines, and rivers. Due to the elevation, snow can remain at the starting area even during the month of July. Temperatures on the course are typically lower than in surrounding areas during the summer season.
Available distances include:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 6.2 Miles (10K)
- 3.1 Miles (5K)
The event is staged on Highway 35 and provides an environment similar to a spring race despite its summer date. Registration for the physical races generally closes in late April, while the virtual race registration remains open until the day of the event.
