High Desert Relay
The High Desert Relay is a single day team relay held in Powell Butte and Prineville, Oregon. The event offers both running and walking courses that travel through the Cascade Mountains area, past Smith Rock, along the Prineville Reservoir, and by the Crooked River.
Teams run or walk as a relay using one van. The event course distances are:
- 67.5 mile run
- 43.7 mile walk
Start locations are given for each discipline: the run starts at 16976 SW Brasada Ranch Rd, Powell Butte, OR, and the walk starts at Crooked River Park, Main St, Prineville, OR. Detailed leg maps and a full course map are provided for each segment of the relay.
Registration opens in April 2026. Team entry fees listed are $900 for running teams and $650 for walking teams; team sizes are specified as 4 to 6 people. Packet pickup is scheduled on days prior to and on event day at the listed event locations.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is named as a charity partner. St. Jude fundraising teams are asked to commit to raising $1,500 by race day and are listed as receiving event benefits such as event apparel, preferred start times, a dedicated celebration area, complimentary beverages at the finish, and a stocked van kit.
