Heron Challenge
The Heron Challenge is a six-hour multi-lap running event at Blackpit Farm, Stowe, MK18 5LJ, scheduled for 27 May 2027. The format lets participants complete as many 3.3-mile laps as they can within the six-hour time limit, so final distances are decided by each runner.
The route will use the farm's woodland and farmland. The final route is to be confirmed, but the organiser describes off-road runnable trails typical of other Big Bear locations. A GPX file and Komoot pages will be shared once the route is finalised.
On-site facilities include free parking, a cafe and a toilet block next to the event HQ. The site also hosts Flo Wellbeing, which has a lake for open-water swimming, a wood-burning sauna, cold plunges and hot tubs; event entrants may be offered early access to limited sessions, but sessions are separately managed and subject to availability.
Entry fees follow a tiered structure: entries before 24 April 2027 cost £38, later entries cost £43; unaffiliated entrants pay an extra £2. There is no booking fee. Joining the Big Bear Brigade offers a 10% discount on future entries. Fundraising for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity is optional during registration.
Additional notes: this is Big Bear’s first event at Blackpit Farm though the organiser has hosted over 100 six-hour events elsewhere. Canicross is not permitted; rucking is allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
