Heroes for Military Kids 5K and Kids Dash
This is an inaugural running event on Saturday, April 11, 2026. It takes place at The Avenue Viera, located at 2261 Town Center Ave. in Melbourne, Florida.
The event is organized by the AVET Project, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. Its purpose is to honor veterans, active-duty service members, and especially their children, while raising awareness and support for military families.
Events
- A 5K Run/Walk with a general entry fee of $30.
- A Free Kids Fun Run, described as a 50-yard dash.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Running Zone (3696 N. Wickham Rd., Melbourne) and on race morning at The Avenue. The event will proceed rain or shine, and refunds are not offered.
Awards will be presented for the top three overall male and female finishers, top male and female masters (40+), and the top three male and female participants in various age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
