Event Overview
The Heroes for Hospice 5K Run/Walk is an event that raises funds and awareness for hospice and palliative care. It specifically benefits Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care and Midland Care Hospice of Topeka and Lawrence. Since its start in 2011, the event has donated a net total of $248,000 to these two hospice houses.

- 5k Run for registered participants.
- Kids 8 & under 5K, which is free for children age 8 and under; a race shirt can be purchased for $10.
The event is open to runners, walkers, and people with strollers or wagons.
Event Details
The course is a route around the Lions Gate Golf Course in Overland Park, Kansas. The start and finish line is at the REI store in the Prairiefire area.
Registered participants receive a complimentary race shirt. Awards are given to the top overall male and female winners, as well as the top overall male and female masters runners.
Packet pickup and race day registration are available. One option is at the Running Well Store in Mission, Kansas, on the Friday before the event. Another option is on race morning in front of the HomeGoods store in Prairiefire.
