12th Annual Heroes For Education 5K
The 12th Annual Heroes For Education 5K is a community running event held on October 4, 2026 at John Prince Park in Lake Worth, Florida. The event raises funds and awareness for public education in Palm Beach County and is capped at 2,000 participants.
On-site and virtual options are offered. The main event is a chip-timed 5K Run/Walk. Discounted registration rates are available for School District of Palm Beach County students, teachers, and employees with ID. All participants in the 5K, Kids 1-Mile Fun Run, Kids 100-Yard Dash, and virtual 5K receive a custom finisher medal and a high performance race t-shirt. AccuChip timing is used and race results are posted on the morning of the race with a final results posting after 2:00 p.m.
A variety of team and individual awards are planned, including Heroes Awards that award prize money to top participating public schools, fastest school team prizes, age group awards, largest corporate team awards, and new awards for fastest principal and fastest teacher. The School Mascot Race is restricted to costumed School District of Palm Beach County mascots and carries participation and performance awards.
Packet pickup is scheduled at local running stores and the Education Foundation office on specified dates before the race. Registration fees vary by event and participant category. No refunds are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
