Herdy's Frontyard Ultra
Herdy's Frontyard Ultra is an endurance running event held at Herdsman Lake in Perth, Western Australia. This event follows the backyard ultra format where participants must complete a specific distance within a set timeframe.
The competition is structured around a 6.71 km loop. Participants must complete this loop every hour, on the hour. The event continues until only one runner is able to complete a loop within the required time while all others have withdrawn or failed to finish a lap. According to the format, completing 24 consecutive loops results in a total distance of 100 miles.
The event is held in a festive environment at Herdsman Lake. It serves as a test of mental and physical endurance, where almost all participants eventually receive a "Did Not Finish" (DNF) result, as the race only concludes when one single runner remains. The course previously served as the site for an Australian backyard ultra record.
