The Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra is a mountain ultramarathon organised by Lake District Sky Trails. It takes place in Patterdale on 18 July 2026. The course distance is 57 km with 3700 m of ascent. The event is classified by Skyrunning UK as a "Sky Extra" race and awards ITRA/UTMB ranking points. The maximum allowed time for the course is 14.5 hours. Entries open 4 October 2025 and close 28 June 2026. The minimum age to enter is 19. Entry fees are shown as £130, rising to £140 from 01/04/2026. Course and entry details
The route is course-marked and described as technically demanding. It traverses multiple exposed ridge lines, including Striding Edge and Swirral Edge, and uses a mix of grassy trods, mountain paths, bare rock, scree, bog and open fell. The organisers provide one fully supplied feed station, two valley support points and 11 manned checkpoints. GPS tracking and timing are provided by Open Tracking. The event includes a professional safety officer and a mountain-qualified safety team. Other items included in the entry are a wild seed-bomb medal option, a post-race vegan salty soup, and an option to join a tree planting scheme.
