Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra
The Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra is a mountain running event of 57 km with 3700 m of ascent, scheduled for 17 July 2027 in Patterdale in the Central and Eastern fells of the English Lake District. The route follows Lake District paths, trails and rock and crosses five ridge-lines, passing Red Tarn, Striding Edge and Swirral Edge, with views towards Windermere, Ullswater and Haweswater.
The course is waymarked and supported. The event includes one fully supplied feed station, two valley support points and 11 manned checkpoints, plus GPS tracking and timing from Open Tracking. It awards ITRA/UTMB ranking points and is delivered with a professional safety officer and a mountain qualified safety team. The maximum time allowed is 14.5 hours and the minimum entry age is 19.
Entries include a wild seed bomb medal, post-race vegan soup and the option to join a tree planting scheme. The race was classified by Skyrunning UK as a "Sky Extra" in 2018 and is organised by Lake District Sky Trails. Optional extras are available via the entry system.
