Event overview

The Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra 2026 is scheduled for 18 July 2026 in Patterdale, in the English Lake District. The route is 57 km long with 3700 m of ascent and a maximum time allowed of 14.5 hours. The course runs on Lake District paths, trails and rock and includes exposed ridge sections and rocky scrambles such as Long Stile Edge, Swirral Edge and Striding Edge. The event is classified as an off-road mountain ultra and is not a vetted race.

Entry, requirements and race services

Entries open 4 October 2025 and close 28 June 2026. Entry fees are listed in tiers: £120.00, rising to £130.00 from 01/01/2026 and £140.00 from 01/04/2026; there were 15 participants entered at the time of listing. Minimum age on race day is 19 years. Organisers advise prior mountain or long-distance mountain-race experience but do not require specific prior events for entry.

Race services included in the entry fee are a fully marked course, one fully supplied feed station, two valley support points, 11 manned checkpoints, GPS tracking and timing, ITRA/UTMB ranking points, a professional safety officer and safety team, and post-race vegan soup.
