Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra 2027
Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra is a course-marked mountain race based in Patterdale in the Central and Eastern Lake District. The route covers 57 km with 3700 m of ascent and has a maximum time allowed of 14.5 hours. Participants must be at least 19 years old on race day.
The course is inspired by European sky races and is described as technically demanding. Runners traverse five ridge-lines and pass notable features such as Red Tarn, Striding Edge and Swirral Edge, and a number of smaller tarns. The route provides views of Windermere, Ullswater and Haweswater and includes paths, trails and sections of rock.
Support and services included with entry consist of a fully marked course, one fully supplied feed station, two valley support points, eleven manned checkpoints, GPS tracking and timing provided by Open Tracking, and ITRA/UTMB ranking points. The event is supported by a professional safety officer and a mountain-qualified safety team. Post-race provision includes a vegan salty soup. The organiser notes that this is not a vetted race. Optional extras are offered to entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
