The courses begin with a roughly 400-foot climb on a gravel service road into Unicoi State Park and include lake-side sections, trail climbs (including a climb toward Tray Mountain and the Appalachian Trail on the marathon), stream crossings, and a mix of rolling and downhill trail running. Aid stations are placed on course; some are limited and may offer only water. Facilities and logistics: packet pickup is available the day before and on race day at the start/finish area. Port-o-johns are provided at the start/finish. Parking is available on the start/finish field for about 150 cars, with overflow parking across the river requiring approximately a 0.25 mile walk back to the field. The event is run as a 100% non-profit; a portion of proceeds supports Unicoi State Park and White County ROTC. The weekend includes a post-race gathering with food, drinks, and music.
