District 1-A Helen Keller Run
District 1-A presents the Helen Keller 5K Run and Walk taking place on April 26, 2026 at Harold L. Richards High School, 10601 Central Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois. The event offers two participation options:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
Proceeds support the District Open Area account and the Lions of Illinois Foundation, which provides 13 programs serving people who are blind, deaf, youth and handicapped. Funds from the event help support services where there is no local Lions Club and programs such as summer camp for hearing or vision impaired children.
Entry fees listed for the event include a 5K Run fee and a 5K Walk fee. All 5K runners receive an official race T shirt. Walkers who raise at least $50 in donations are also eligible to receive an official race T shirt.
Age group awards for male and female top finishers are given in these categories: 14 and under, 15 to 20, 21 to 35, 36 to 50, 51 to 65, 66 to 75, and 76 and over.
