Event overview
The Heaven Can Wait 5K is a community road race in Redmond, Oregon, held on Sunday, October 4, 2026. The event is a long-running fundraiser for Sara's Project, a St. Charles Cancer Institute program that provides community education, early detection resources and patient support for people with breast cancer in Central and Eastern Oregon. Since 2000 the event has raised more than $2 million. The race takes place at Redmond High School football stadium and includes multiple event options:

No pets are allowed inside the stadium.
Registration, race features and services
Online registration is tiered by date, with earlier registration at $54 (includes a fee) and higher online prices closer to the event. Registration and T-shirt fees are used to cover event costs; monetary donations are directed to Sara's Project. Registrants receive a 2026 event shirt (sizing guaranteed for registrations by September 1), a custom race bib and chip timing. Survivors receive a commemorative pin, and first-time survivor participants also receive a custom hat. Bib pick-up is available at two pre-race locations in Bend and Redmond and on race day at Redmond High School.
