Heaven Can Wait 5K
Heaven Can Wait 5K is an annual community race held on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026 at Redmond High School football stadium. The 2026 event marks the 27th running of the race and continues a tradition that began in 2000 to support local breast cancer programs.
The race benefits Sara's Project, a St. Charles Foundation initiative that funds community education, early detection resources and support services for people affected by breast cancer in Central and Eastern Oregon. Over the years the event has raised more than $2 million to support patients and families. Organizers aim to raise an additional $25,000 in 2026 to fund patient support programs that provide free wigs, post surgical bras and education about early detection.
Same-day registration and packet pickup are available. Registration and T shirt fees cover event costs. Organizers state that 100 percent of all donations go directly to support Sara's Project and that donations are tax deductible.
Participation raises funds for Sara's Project, promotes community education about early detection of breast cancer, encourages community members to walk or run for health and brings people together in a community celebration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
