Event Overview

The Heaven Can Wait 5K is a community running event in its 27th year, held on a Sunday in October. The start and finish area is at the Redmond High School football stadium. There is same-day registration and packet pickup available.

Beneficiary and History

The event supports Sara’s Project, a St. Charles Foundation initiative focused on breast cancer. Funds raised provide community education, early detection resources, and patient support services for people in Central and Eastern Oregon. Since 2000, the event has raised over $2 million for these causes. It was founded by a breast cancer survivor, Charlene Levesque, with the original goal of promoting early cancer detection and a healthy lifestyle.

Registration and Fundraising

Registration fees and T-shirt sales cover the operational costs of the event. All additional donations go directly to Sara’s Project and are tax-deductible. The event includes a fundraising challenge where participants or teams can create personal pages to help reach a donation goal. There is also an option to volunteer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
