Heaven Can Wait 5K
Heaven Can Wait 5K is a community road race that raises funds for Sara’s Project, a St. Charles Foundation initiative for breast cancer education and patient support. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 3, 2027, at Redmond High School football stadium. The main distance is 5K and same-day registration and packet pickup are available.
The event began in 2000 and has operated for more than 25 years as a local fundraiser and awareness event. Over the years it has raised more than $2 million to support local breast cancer patients and their families. Organizers reported a fundraising goal in 2026 to add $25,000 for patient support programs that help provide free wigs, post-surgical bras and education about early detection.
All donations go directly to Sara’s Project and are tax-deductible. Fundraising for the project is possible year-round through individual or team pages. Volunteer roles at the event include registration support, course assistance and general event operations.
