Event
The 2026 Heaven Can Wait 5K is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Redmond High School football stadium in Redmond, Oregon. It is the 27th edition of a community run that benefits Sara’s Project, a fund of the St. Charles Foundation. Sara’s Project supports breast cancer education, early detection resources and patient support services for people in Central and Eastern Oregon. The event has raised more than $1.75 million since 2000. Organizers are seeking additional donations for patient support programs in 2026.
The event program includes a Survivor 5K, a general 5K and a St. Charles Caregiver category. The race is chip-timed and participants receive a custom race bib.
Registration and logistics
Online registration pricing is tiered: $54 (includes a $4 fee) during the main registration window, a higher fee beginning in September, and a further increase in early October. Children ages 0-5 may register at no charge for the standard 5K fee structure. Registration includes a 2026 event shirt when registered by September 1 to guarantee sizing; later shirt selections are subject to availability. Survivors receive a commemorative pin and a hat (hat provided for first-year survivors).
Bib pick-up is offered at multiple pre-race locations and on race day. The event uses volunteers for course support, bib distribution and finish-area duties. Pets are not permitted on the athletic fields. Complimentary coffee, cold drinks and breakfast burritos are provided after the race while supplies last.
