Heaven Can Wait 5K
Heaven Can Wait 5K is a community race held on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at the Redmond High School football stadium. The event raises funds for Sara’s Project, a St. Charles Foundation initiative that supports breast cancer education, early detection resources and patient support services for people in Central and Eastern Oregon.
The event marks 27 years of running and community support. Since 2000 the race has raised more than $2 million for local breast cancer programs. In 2026 the event aims to raise an additional $25,000 for patient support programs that help provide free wigs, post-surgical bras and education about early detection.
A fundraising component called the 25K Challenge encourages participants and teams to create personal fundraising pages and set goals to support the event’s donation target. The foundation states that 100% of donations go directly to Sara’s Project and that donations are tax-deductible.
The event includes same-day registration and packet pickup. Volunteer roles and vendor booth opportunities are available to support on-site needs and community engagement.
