Heaven Can Wait 5K

Heaven Can Wait 5K is an annual community run that benefits Sara's Project, a St. Charles Foundation initiative focused on breast cancer education and patient support. The 2026 event takes place Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026 at Redmond High School football stadium and marks the event's 27th anniversary.

Since its start in 2000, the event has raised more than $2 million to support community education, early detection resources and support services for people facing breast cancer in Central and Eastern Oregon. For 2026 the organizers aim to raise an additional $25,000 specifically for patient support programs such as free wigs, post surgical bras and education about early detection.

Registration and T shirt fees cover event costs. The foundation states that 100 percent of donations go directly to support Sara's Project and that donations are tax deductible. The event also includes same day registration and packet pickup.

The event emphasizes community engagement through fundraising and education. A 25K Challenge encourages participants to create fundraising pages, set goals, personalize their pages and share links to raise funds for local patient support programs.
