2027 Heatwave Hustle 5k & 10k

The event takes place on June 27, 2027 at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, Virginia (901 Amherst St.). Points from these races count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series and also toward the Spring Series.

The course is mostly paved with rolling hills and some small sections of gravel. The 5k is one out and back; the 10k is two out and backs. There are three water stations on the 10k at approximately miles 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65, and one water station on the 5k at approximately mile 1.55. Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are located inside the museum.

Runners receive a finisher's medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and chip timing. T shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before June 16; extra shirts are ordered for later registrants on a first come first served basis. Race day registration and packet pickup are available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before a runner's race to check in. Race day prices increase by five dollars per distance.

Live results are posted during the event on Athlinks and a QR code will allow immediate access; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in the age categories 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. Top three overall finishers are not eligible to also win their age groups.

A virtual race option is offered. The organizer operates events in all weather but may delay, change, postpone, or cancel for safety and will notify participants if changes occur. Banditing is not allowed and may result in removal or disqualification. Parking is available at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley; a GPS pin is provided in event directions.
