Event overview
The Heart Strides 5K and Fun Run takes place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at UNC Health Lenoir, 100 Airport Road, Kinston, NC 28501. The event is organized to bring the hospital and community together during heart month, with a focus on health, wellness, and increasing awareness of heart-related services offered by the facility. Providers will be on site to speak with participants. All proceeds benefit the Lenoir Memorial Foundation.

Registration fees listed are $35 for the 5K and $25 for the 1-mile fun run. Registered participants receive swag bag gifts. T-shirts are provided to participants who register by January 30.
Participants are encouraged to run in honor of someone with a heart-related diagnosis or in memory of someone lost to a heart-related diagnosis; the event will provide "in honor/in memory" stickers and red ribbons. Runners may also wear heart month colors or heart-themed costumes and may enter spirit categories with prizes for individuals and teams.

Awards and categories
Awards include top 3 overall male and female finishers and top male and female in these age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. Prizes are also planned for spirit award winners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
