Heart & Sole Race
The Heart & Sole Race is an annual event held during Father's Day weekend in Billings, Montana. Now in its 47th year, this event supports the YMCA Annual Campaign and the development of the local trail system through Billings TrailNet. The event is open to participants of all ages and abilities.
The event features three distinct distances:
- 10K
- 5K
- 2-Mile Health Walk
The 10K distance serves as the RRCA State Championship. Participants entering this distance are automatically entered into the championship competition. This race starts at St. Francis Catholic School, where participant parking is available. A shuttle service operates from the finish line at Dehler Park back to the starting location.
The 5K and 2-Mile courses start at St. Vincent Healthcare. Parking for these participants is provided on the MSU-Billings campus, as space at the medical center is limited. Children in strollers may participate without registration but must remain in the stroller for the duration of the event.
The finish area at Dehler Park hosts the Montana Active Life Festival. This festival includes a Car & Bike Show and a children's activity where those aged 12 and under can run the bases. Participants who register by the end of May receive an official event t-shirt. The race is also part of the Billings Running Crown Challenge, a series involving four local events.
