Heart of The Rockies Multisport Festival
The Heart of The Rockies Multisport Festival is a long-standing athletic event held at Kinsmen Beach in Invermere, British Columbia. As one of the world's longest-running triathlons, it offers a variety of competitions set against the scenery of the Columbia Valley. The event features a swim in Lake Windermere followed by cycling and running routes that utilize the surrounding landscape, including the recently paved Westside Road for the bike portion.
The festival caters to individual participants and teams across two days of competition. A dedicated event specifically for junior athletes aged 12 to 15 is also integrated into the program, allowing younger participants to compete either in their own category or as part of a team in the main triathlon.
Available distances and formats include:
- Triathlon (Sprint, Olympic, and Team categories)
- Duathlon
- Aquabike and Aquathlon
- Gran Fondo (cycling)
- Running (Fun Run)
- Open Water Swimming
- Young Hearts Triathlon (for competitors aged 12-15)
The race experience includes professional event timing and management. Participants receive a race bib, a souvenir top for most events, and a swim cap for aquatic disciplines. Run course aid stations provide water and gels, and post-race refreshments are available to all athletes following their effort. The weekend concludes with an official awards ceremony.
