The Heart of the Prairie Run is scheduled for May 30, 2026, at Blooming Soul Farm near Nickerson, Kansas. This is presented as the First Annual edition; the event was moved from an initial date of September 30, 2025 due to low entries. The event includes the following race distances:
- Half marathon
- 5k
The half marathon registration fee is listed at $65 and the 5k at $30. Registration prices increase after April 1, 2026. Packet pick-up is available Friday, May 29 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Blooming Soul Farm and on the morning of the race from 5:30-6:30 AM.
Purpose, beneficiaries and registration options
Proceeds will support The Heart of MFB, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides awareness, informational resources, emotional support and tangible assistance, including care packages, for families facing complications during pregnancy or birth defects. Funds will be used to offer financial assistance to families in South Central Kansas who are undergoing medical treatment for birth defects. The organizer notes that donations can be made privately or at fundraisers. Registrants affected by the date change were offered options to transfer to the new date, allow the organizer to retain their fee to cover costs, or request a refund.
