5K Monster Dash - Hutchinson
The event is a 5K fun run held underground at Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson, Kansas on October 31, 2026. The course runs through salt mine tunnels about 650 feet below the surface, illuminated by lanterns and candlelight.
Helmets are required for all participants and will be inspected by staff. A personal light source such as a headlamp or flashlight is strongly recommended. Costumes are permitted and organizers indicate notable costume looks may be recognized.
Entry rules restrict participants by age: no one under 8 may enter, and participants ages 8 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Runners and walkers select a starting heat at registration; heats are limited to 30 participants. Walkers are advised to choose earlier heats. Participants still on the course after the midday cutoff will be escorted to the finish.
This is presented as a fun run. Clocks will be located at the start and finish for self timing. Race packets should be picked up before each heat; late arrivals may be moved to the final heat. Registration includes a specified fee; taxes and processing fees are added and purchases are final. All proceeds benefit Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum.
