Heart of Gold 5K
The Heart of Gold 5K is a charity running and walking event held on June 21, 2026, in Oakland, New Jersey. The course is in Oakland’s Industrial Park on Bauer Avenue and begins at 16 Van Vooren Drive, at the location of an Oakland firehouse. All profits from the event are returned to the local community. Net proceeds are split evenly between the Oakland Fire Department, the Oakland Police Department, and Oakland EMS, with additional support directed to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Shelter. The 2026 edition features a single race heat with runners positioned at the front and walkers toward the back; official results are separated after the event. Awards include medals for the top ten finishers in each gender category and a specially designed trophy for the first overall finisher in each gender.
