Healing in Motion 5K
The Healing in Motion 5K is an inaugural event held at White Hall Park in Richmond, Kentucky. This event coincides with the beginning of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. All proceeds and donations from the race support the Sexual Violence Resource Center of the Bluegrass (SVRC), which provides trauma-informed services such as counseling, advocacy, and education across 17 counties in the Bluegrass region.
The event features a variety of distances and participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed 3.1 mile race conducted on paved trail surfaces.
- Kid's Dash: A 200 yard (approximately 400 yards) non-timed run for children aged 9 and under.
- Virtual Runner/Walker: A 3.1 mile option for participants to complete the distance at any location.
The 5K course is scenic and utilizes paved trails throughout the park. Results are professionally timed, and awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three in each ten-year age division. Participants in the 5K receive a commemorative soft poly-cotton unisex T-shirt while supplies last.
Children participating in the Kid's Dash receive participation medals, and there is an optional T-shirt available for an additional fee. Participants in the virtual category will have their commemorative shirts mailed to them and have the option to log their results online. Race day amenities include free photography and packet pickup on-site at the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
