HBF Run for a Reason
HBF Run for a Reason is an annual community running event in Perth held on Whadjuk Boodjar with a course along the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River). The event in 2026 was sold out and attracted 40,000 participants across running, jogging, walking and wheeling categories.
The event features multiple distances and race formats, including:
- Brooks Half Marathon
- Specsavers 12 km
- CommBank 3 km
Participants and supporters raise funds for charities. In 2026 the event helped raise AUD 1,820,886 for more than 350 charities. Across 14 years, participants have contributed more than AUD 14 million to charity. The stated fundraising target for the year was AUD 2 million.
Post-race services included official timing and public race results, and participant photos were provided through an event photography partner using the email address used at registration. Event partners include health, media and commercial organisations that support the race and associated activities.
Organisers acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land where the event is held and pay respects to Elders past and present. Future event dates are published in advance; the 2027 date is listed as Sunday 23 May.
