About the race
HBF Run for a Reason is a community running event held on Whadjuk Boodjar with a course along the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River). The event returned in 2026 and was sold out for a second year, with 40,000 runners, joggers, walkers and wheelers taking part.
Participants raised funds for charities through the event. In 2026 the community raised over $1.85 million for more than 350 charities, and since 2010 the event community has raised over $16 million in total. The 2026 program included multiple event distances and categories, with participant photos provided by NORTHSOUTH LIVE and official race times available through race results services.
Organisers acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, paying respects to Whadjuk Noongar people and their Elders past and present. Partners and sponsors support the event and its fundraising outcomes. The next scheduled event date listed is Sunday 23 May 2027.
