Haynes Apperson 5K
The Haynes Apperson 5K takes place in downtown Kokomo, Indiana. The event base is situated at the Kokomo Family YMCA on North Union Street, which serves as the location for registration and the start and finish line. Participants can use the parking garage located adjacent to the YMCA facility.
The course begins at the Kokomo Family YMCA and leads participants through several local landmarks, including Foster Park, UCT, and Kokomo Beach. The route continues onto the Walk of Excellence Trail, which guides participants back to the YMCA for the finish. Participants are organized at the start line based on their event type, with runners positioned at the front and walkers toward the rear.
The event offers the following options:
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- 5K Walk (3.1 miles)
Participants in the walk category are required to walk the entire distance of the race. All registrants who complete their entry by the specified early deadline receive a short-sleeve t-shirt. Shirt pickup is available at the YMCA on the day prior to the race and on the morning of the event. All finishers receive a medal.
Awards are presented for the 5K Run to the top three overall male and female participants, the top overall male and female in the masters category, and the top three finishers in each age group.
