Event Overview

The Haw River Island Ramble is hosted by the Haw River Assembly and takes place in Graham, North Carolina. This event is held in observance of Earth Month to support the protection and restoration of the Haw River and Jordan Lake watershed. Participants traverse the Saxapahaw Island Loop Trail, which is located adjacent to the scenic Haw River.

The event offers two distinct options based on participant preference for timing and distance:

  • 3.6 Miles: A timed race for competitors consisting of three loops on the trail.
  • 1.2 Miles: An untimed single loop for those preferring a shorter distance.

The course is set within a watershed area that provides drinking water and recreation for North Carolina residents. The Haw River Assembly, a non-profit organization, utilizes this event to highlight environmental conservation within a basin that flows through Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Chatham, and several other surrounding counties. The trail route focuses on the natural landscape and the river environment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
