Haunted Halloween Half Marathon & 5km - Chicago
The Haunted Halloween Half Marathon & 5km is held in Lincoln Park at the Diversey Event Space, across from the Notebaert Nature Museum. The event includes two distances:
- Half marathon
- 5K
The course runs on trails inside Lincoln Park before heading south along Chicago's Lakefront Trail. The course is accurately measured and every mile is marked. Timing splits on the half marathon course are provided at 5 km, 10 km, and 10 miles; the 10 km split is located at the turnaround point at 6.55 miles.
A pre-race Costume Contest awards prize money: team first and second place receive $200 and individual first and second place receive $100. Age group awards are given in ten-year ranges: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus. Every half marathon and 5K finisher receives an H^3 medal that matches the race bib and shirt.
Packet pickup is scheduled at Fleet Feet and Xtra Mile Running, with on-site packet pickup on race day. After the event there are autumn refreshments and Halloween candy. A post-race party at Tin Lizzie includes a free beer and a 20% discount on the food menu. Parking is available in the Chicago History Museum lot and along Cannon Drive; participants are encouraged to use public transportation. This event will sell out.
