About the race
The Haunted Halloween Half Marathon & 5km takes place in Lincoln Park, Chicago, with the event base at Diversey Event Space at 2611 N Cannon Drive, across from the Notebaert Nature Museum. The event offers two distances and Halloween-themed race items.

The course uses trails within Lincoln Park and then heads south along Chicago's Lakefront Trail. The half marathon course is accurately measured and has mile markers. Timing splits on the half marathon are recorded at 5 km, at a 10 km split placed at the turnaround (6.55 miles), and at 10 miles. Runners are encouraged to wear costumes; a pre-race Costume Contest awards prize money to team and individual winners, with team prizes listed as $200 for first and second and individual prizes listed as $100 for first and second. Age group awards are given in ten-year categories: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.
Every finisher in both distances receives a themed bib, shirt, and a matching finisher medal. Packet pickup is scheduled at Fleet Feet Old Town the day before and on race morning at Diversey Event Space. After the race there are autumn refreshments and Halloween candy, and a post-race party at Tin Lizzie in Lincoln Park with a free beer and a 20 percent discount on the food menu.
