Haunted 5k Run/Walk - Hazard, KY
On 10/23/2026 an event at Perry County Park, 354 Perry Park Road, Hazard, KY 41701 will offer four 5k categories: Family Friendly 5k Run, Family Friendly 5k Walk, Haunted Trail 5k Run, and Haunted Trail 5k Walk.
The family friendly route runs on paved and gravel areas in Perry County Park. The haunted route is a trail through a forested area and includes actors along the course. The run and walk versions share their respective routes. Actors and participants on the haunted route are not allowed to touch each other.
Registration opens 12 August 2026 and closes 30 September 2026. The registration fee for each 5k category is $25. Organizers accept volunteers to act on the haunted route, and participants may serve as volunteers as well.
Proceeds support the Hazard Police Department Shop with a Cop program. That program has operated with an annual budget of approximately $3,000 and has provided Christmas gifts for about 20 local children per year. The stated goal for the program is to expand service to more children in the Hazard Independent School District and to foster positive interactions between local law enforcement and children.
