Hathersage Gala Fell Race
The Hathersage Gala includes a junior trail race and an adult fell race held in Hathersage, Derbyshire. The adult race is pre-entry only and has a minimum age of 16 on 1 January 2026; parental permission is required for under 18s. Venue and registration are on the school field at Hathersage St. Michael’s C of E Primary School, School Lane, S32 1BZ.
The adult course measures 7.3 km (4.5 miles) with 325 m (1066 ft) of climb. The route follows the concessionary path through Whim Plantation, proceeds to Over Owler Tor, continues along the stony path past Winyards Nick and climbs to Higger Tor. Organisers note an emphasis on reducing tarmac sections and increasing fell terrain on the route. The race is conducted under FRA rules with a race permit awaiting.
Electronic timing and live results are provided via QR code for faster registration and instant results. On-site facilities include water, a bag tent and toilets. A card machine will be available but cash is recommended as a backup.
There is very limited parking at the school; the village car park (S32 1DU) is about a five minute walk from the venue. Dogs are not allowed on the school premises or on the school field. Prizes are supplied by local sponsors and include standard category awards plus local and novelty prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
