Event Overview
The Harrietville Half Marathon is a regional running event held in the Alpine Shire of North East Victoria. The course is situated approximately 3.5 hours from Melbourne and connects the town of Bright with the mountain village of Harrietville. The event is organized by a local running group and focuses on community health and wellbeing.
Course Details
The primary route follows the Great Valley Trail, passing through local landmarks such as the Stony Creek Fish Farm and offering views of Mt Feathertop. The finish line is located in Tavare Park within Harrietville. The event includes several distances to accommodate different participants:
- 21.1 km (Half Marathon)
- 10.5 km
- 5 km Fun Run or Walk
- 2 km Fun Run or Walk
Participant Information
All participants receive a race bib with an integrated timing chip for automatic live timing. Drink stations along the course provide a choice of water or electrolyte drinks. Every finisher is presented with a medal upon completion of their event. For the 5 km and 2 km distances, medals and podium recognition are awarded to the first, second, and third-place male and female finishers.
Series and Charity
The event is part of the Alpine Valley Trifecta. Runners who complete the 18 km Bright Fun Run, the 21.1 km Mt Beauty Running Festival, and the 21.1 km Harrietville Half are eligible for a specific medal and prize. Proceeds from the event are shared between the Harrietville Primary School and the Black Dog Institute to support mental health initiatives.
