Event overview
The Harriers Boxing Day Handicap is an annual handicap running event held on December 26th in Saanichton, British Columbia. The race uses a staggered, assigned-start handicap format based on recent race performances so that competitors’ finish times are intended to converge. Entry is free with a maximum of 60 registrations accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. No day-of-race entries are accepted. Registrants are asked to provide recent race times or an estimated time for seeding.

The road course is an out-and-back mainly along country roads near the Prairie Inn Neighbourhood Pub, with undulating terrain and traffic-law expectations for participants. The trail option runs through nearby parks with undulating singletrack, a significant steep climb to the Mt Newton summit lookout, and a descent down Merrill Harrop. Trail participants are responsible for their own way-finding.
There is limited food and fluid available at the finish and one fluid stop at the start/halfway/finish point. Award presentations may include a trophy or plaque for the winner and additional random-draw prizes. Results may be posted online after the event.
