Hatley Castle 8K

Hatley Castle 8K is part of the Vancouver Island Race Series and takes place at the historic Hatley Castle site on Sooke Road in Colwood / Victoria, BC, Canada. The series includes distances ranging from 5 km to the half marathon and features an 8 km race at Hatley Castle.

The course runs around the castle grounds and combines road and a significant amount of trail. It is described as hilly and traffic free, with the final 2 km flat and downhill. The course is measured to World Athletics standards for accuracy, although the Hatley Castle 8K is not record eligible.

The event is open to runners, racewalkers, walkers, and wheelchair athletes only. Roller blades, strollers, and cycling are not permitted except for designated official cyclists. Pets are not allowed; only registered guide dogs are permitted. Visually impaired participants accompanied by an assisting runner or guide dog must start at the back of the field.

Organizers recommend that participants do not wear headphones and state that competitors who impede others, emergency services, or race officials while wearing headphones may be disqualified. Entry fees are non refundable and non transferable and online processing fees apply. The event supports KidSport BC and displayed a partial fundraising total at the time of the listing.
