About the race
Hare Challenge is a six-hour trail event at Coombe Abbey Park, CV3 2AB, managed by Coventry City Council. Participants run as many 3.3-mile laps as they can within the six-hour time limit; lap counts can be used to measure common distances such as a half marathon or marathon.
The course is mostly on stone pathways. The usual meadow section on open grassland is closed between October and April, so this event uses a slightly amended winter route; the replacement section may become muddy in wet weather. A GPX file exists for the route, but the course may be subject to last-minute changes and will be waymarked on the day.
Practical details at the venue include parking (charges up to £5 depending on stay), a cafe and a toilet block next to the event HQ, and the closest train station being Coventry. The park is about six minutes from Junction 2 of the M6.
Dogs are not permitted because fields may contain sheep. Rucking is allowed. There are two finish rewards options: a medal or a Big Bear Tree Token; each tree token results in a tree being planted and contains wildflower seeds. Optional charity fundraising for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity can be selected during entry, with donations passed directly to the charity.
Pricing is tiered: before 09/02/2027 the entry fee is £38, after that date it is £43; unaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
