Escape from Meriden, November 2026
Escape from Meriden is an endurance foot event that starts at the ancient cross in Meriden. Participants have a fixed time to travel on foot in any direction and distance is measured "as the crow flies" using TrackTrail GPS technology. There are three competition categories: Solo and Pairs, each with a 24 hour limit, and Chained teams, which may run for up to 36 hours.
Medals are awarded by distance reached as measured in a straight line: 30 miles earns Silver, 60 miles earns Gold and 90 miles earns a Black Crow. Chained teams that cover 130 real miles receive a special Chained medal in addition to the standard awards. Stonehenge is noted as 100 miles from Meriden on foot to illustrate long distance targets.
The event provides a TrackTrail tracker hire included with entry. There are no checkpoints and no route advice; participants choose and carry their own food and navigation. Travel on foot is mandatory; private land and illegal roads such as motorways are prohibited. Organisers recommend avoiding roads without pavements. Participants may bring a teddy bear and may arrange support crews to meet them; once a participant leaves the cross the event team will not provide food or recovery.
Entry fees and optional extras are stated: Solo and Pair entries cost £38 per person, Chained entries cost £68 per person. Optional items include a medal, prison jumpsuit and event tee. All 2026 event places are sold out. The refund policy is no refunds or deferrals unless the event is cancelled; places can be transferred up to 30 days before the event and only within the same entry category.
