Harding Hustle - Cleveland National Forest, Silverado, CA
The Harding Hustle is a trail running event held in the Santa Ana Mountains within Cleveland National Forest near Silverado, California. The event offers multiple distances on the Harding Truck Trail, a forest-service jeep road that reaches the summits of Santiago and Modjeska peaks and includes sustained climbs and descents with notable elevation change.
The course options:
- 50K
- 30K
- 15K
The 50K route runs mostly on the Harding Truck Trail up toward Santiago and Modjeska peaks. The 30K and 15K courses are out-and-back routes on the same jeep road, with the 15K turning around near Laurel Springs. Total elevation gain and maximum elevation vary by distance; elevation figures are provided by the organizer and distances may vary slightly each year due to permitting.
Logistics reflect the remote nature of the courses: aid stations are staffed and provisioned (full or water-only at specific stations), crew access on course is not permitted, and pacers are not allowed. Finish-line drop bags are permitted but on-course drop bags are not. Parking is not allowed at the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary; a shuttle service operates from Oakley Lower Parking Lot for runners and spectators. Organizers note hot, dry July conditions and recommend carrying sufficient water, with at least one liter capacity advised between aid stations.
