Courses, support and logistics
The 50K is run mostly on the Harding Truck Trail up to the top of Santiago and Modjeska peaks. The 30K and 15K are out-and-back routes on the same jeep road, with the 15K turning at the Laurel Springs aid station. Key statistics published for the event include total elevation gains of about 5,926 ft for the 50K, 3,482 ft for the 30K, and 2,088 ft for the 15K; max elevations are listed for each distance.
The race provides aid stations at multiple locations along the courses; some aid stations have cutoff times for leaving. Due to remoteness, on-course crew access is not allowed and pacers are not permitted. Parking is not allowed at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary; runners and spectators must use a shuttle from the Oakley Lower Parking Lot in Lake Forest or use the permitted runner drop-off. The event notes hot July conditions and recommends carrying sufficient water, with at least 1 liter capacity between aid stations when required.
