Happy Girls Sisters : event overview
Happy Girls Sisters is a women-focused running event in Sisters, Oregon, hosted at FivePine Lodge and Conference Center. The event offers multiple race distances and a shared finish area on the FivePine campus beneath Ponderosa pines. The half marathon uses single-track trail on the Peterson Ridge Trail system in the Deschutes National Forest and begins and ends at FivePine at about 3,182 feet elevation. The trail course includes rolling terrain, elevation change with climbing early in the route, and some narrow, rocky sections.
Distances
- Half marathon on single-track trail in the Deschutes National Forest
- 10K mixing pavement and trail through downtown Sisters
- 5K mixing pavement and trail through downtown Sisters
The 10K and 5K courses predominantly wind through downtown Sisters and are relatively flat. Aid stations are placed along each course: three on the half marathon (not including start and finish), two on the 10K, and one on the 5K; stations supply water, GU Brew, and GU gels. Gear drop tags are provided at packet pick up and on race morning.
Packet pick up includes a Girls Night Out at FivePine with snacks, free drinks, and vendor booths. All finishers receive event-specific items: medals for all, custom gifts and neck buffs for 5K and 10K finishers, a finisher buckle and a puffy blanket for half marathoners, and a FivePine water bottle for everyone. Top three open and masters receive awards, and age-group ribbons are given for first through third places. The event benefits the Sisters Parks and Recreation District. The run is authorized under a special use permit from the Deschutes National Forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
