Hannah Pote Run For Education 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run
This event is a community road race held at Starkville Sportsplex, 405 Lynn Lane, Starkville, Mississippi. It features two distances: a certified 5K road race and a 1 mile fun run. Funds raised support teacher and special school project grants within the Starkville Oktibbeha School District and benefit the Starkville Foundation for Public Education.
The certified 5K is described as a very flat, fast road course with traffic control. The 1 mile fun run is a flat out and back course closed to traffic. Packet pickup is race day only at the race site between 6:45 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Race day registration is available during that same morning period; the published race day fees are $30 for the 5K and $10 for the 1 mile run. Online registration categories include free entries for sponsors and certain school athletes, discounted rates for local school athletes and staff, and paid entries for runners and walkers.
Awards include trophies for overall male and female and overall male and female masters. Age group awards for 1st through 3rd place are given in standard age brackets, for example 10 and under, 11 to 14, 15 to 19, and continuing by decade up to 70 and over. All 1 mile finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
