Event Overview
Hann Jivin' in the Dark is a night trail running event in Knoxville, Tennessee. The event includes a 6-mile distance, a 6-mile option for students 14 and under, and a Kids Trail Mile.
Location and Course
The start and finish point is at Anderson-South Head Start (formerly Anderson School) at 4808 Prospect Road, Knoxville. The 6-7 mile (10k+) course is a circuitous, well-marked route through the mostly unlit wooded trails of the South Loop of Knoxville's Urban Wilderness, touring the Lost Chromosome and Helix Trails. The trails are marked but not illuminated; participants must bring a flashlight or headlamp to be allowed on the course. The kids' course is described as a miniaturized, less dark version of the adult route.
Additional Information
The event is part of the Treadin' Trodden Trails series. Special series registration offers are available, including a 7-race season pass. A special limited edition T-shirt is printed for the series, with one shirt per runner per season. Aid and water stations are provided, though runners are urged to carry their own water. There are restrictions on course equipment: no headsets, earphones, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades, or pets are allowed. A minimum pace of 18:00 per mile is enforced.
