Course, rules and safety
The main course is described as a 6-7 mile (10k+) circuitous route through mostly unlit wooded sections of the South Loop of Knoxville's Urban Wilderness, using Lost Chromosome and Helix Trails. Trails will be marked but not illuminated; participants must bring a flashlight or headlamp to be allowed on the course. The kids course is a shortened, less dark version of the adult route.
Safety and event rules include: no refunds and no bib transfers; runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult to run the adult distance; an 18:00/mile minimum pace will be enforced with a sweeper; no headsets, earphones, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades or pets on course. Aid stations will supply only very small cups; runners are urged to carry their own water and any needed medication for insect sensitivity. Results will be published after the race.
