Hampton County Watermelon Festival 5K
The Hampton County Watermelon Festival 5K takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Hampton, South Carolina. The course starts and finishes on Elm Street in front of the Hampton County courthouse. The event serves as the traditional kickoff to the Hampton County Watermelon Festival.
The distance is 5K. Registration opens January 7, 2026 and closes June 18, 2026. The registration fee is $30. Late registration is available Friday, June 19, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hampton gazebo on Lee Avenue. Race day registration and packet pickup are available at the Hampton County courthouse beginning at 6:30 AM and ending at 7:30 AM; packet pickup is also available Friday, June 19, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The cut-off to guarantee a T-shirt is June 1; registrations must be received by that date to guarantee a shirt.
Awards will be given to the top three overall finishers and to the top male and top female in the following age categories: 12 & Under, 13 - 19, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, and 70 and up. The event will be held rain or shine and no refunds will be given. A Watermelon Festival 5K Spirit Award will be presented to the group with the most participants.
