Cannonball Run
The Cannonball Run is a trail running event at Broxton Bridge Plantation in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. The event offers multiple formats including a 34-hour race, a Last Man Standing format, a ruck division, and a youth option for runners 14 and under. The course is a loop of 3.3 miles with about 49 feet of elevation gain per loop, composed of dirt roads, double-track trails, and maintained grassy sections.
The Last Man Standing format requires runners to complete each 3.3-mile loop within a 48-minute window and return to the start line at the end of each window or be eliminated. The race issues short time warnings before each loop and continues until one runner remains, who then runs a final solo lap. Last Man Standing entrants have priority placement for canopies or tents near the start corral.
Primitive camping is included for all runners and includes access to a bathhouse with toilets and hot showers. On-property RV sites and bed and breakfast rooms are available through the plantation; nearby towns provide additional lodging. A single aid station at the start/finish is stocked with snacks, drinks, and basic race foods; runners must carry items needed while on the loop. Packet pickup is available at the aid station on the day before the main event.
Finisher recognition includes a custom medal for completing at least one loop and a buckle for runners who reach 100 miles. The Last Man Standing winner receives a trophy engraved cannonball. The event is held rain or shine except under severe hazard conditions; transfers and race-credit policies apply. Ruck entrants must meet weight standards based on body weight.
