Cannonball Run
Cannonball Run is a trail event held at Broxton Bridge Plantation in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. The event offers multiple formats: a 34 hour race, a Last Man Standing format, a ruck division, and a youth option for ages 14 and under. The course uses a repeated loop layout that keeps runners returning to the start area and aid station.
The course is a 3.3-mile loop that runs over dirt roads, double-track trails, and maintained grassy sections. Each loop has about 49 feet of elevation gain and minimal technical challenges. The loop design allows runners quick access to their gear and the fully stocked aid station at the start/finish area.
Last Man Standing runners must complete the 3.3 mile loop within 48 minutes and be back at the start line every 48 minutes or be removed from that competition. The race issues 5, 2, and 1 minute warnings before each loop. The final remaining runner completes a solo lap; other participants receive credit for miles completed and may join the 34 hour race. Last Man Standing participants receive priority for canopy or tent placement near the start corral.
Primitive camping is included for registered runners and includes access to a bathhouse with toilets and hot showers. RV sites and two on property bed and breakfast rooms are available through the property. The aid station stocks common race snacks and hydration options, and meals are provided for runners and volunteers. Finisher recognition is given to anyone who completes at least one loop; awards and special items are offered for milestones and top finishers. The ruck division has weight standards of 20 lb for participants under 150 lb and 30 lb for those over 150 lb. The event will proceed in typical conditions but may be postponed for extreme weather or other major incidents; refund and credit policies are specified by the organizer.
