Hammond Scottish Festival 5K Kilt Run/Walk
The event is a non competitive 5K run/walk held at the Hammond Historical Museum in Hammond, NY. The course starts and ends at the museum, follows County Route 6 through farmland and past original stone houses built by Scottish settlers, and includes a turnaround near an 1830s Scottish stone home on a hill overlooking a pond and wooded area. Times are provided at the finish line.
Two age divisions are offered: a Youth Division for ages 7 to 12 and an Adult Division for ages 13 and older. Registration fees vary by date. Youth registration fees listed include a lower early fee and a higher later fee. Adult registration has multiple tiers with increasing fees for later sign ups. Online registration closes July 10 and same day registration is available the morning of the event. Registrants who request a t shirt must register by Friday July 3.
Every participant must wear a kilt that is tartan, has an apron front and a pleated back. Organizers will deny participation and issue a refund if kilt requirements are not followed. Registered participants receive a free admission ticket to the Scottish Festival. Beverages are provided after the race. Prizes are awarded to the first female and male in each division and a grand prize drawing is held for the first 100 registrants in each division.
