Halloween Half & 5k - Race overview
This event offers two out and back running options on the north end of the North Douglas Highway in Juneau, Alaska, beginning at the Pioneer Road trailhead. The course follows the highway shoulders and nearby Fish Creek Road toward False Outer Point.

Racers head toward False Outer Point. 5k participants follow a marked turnaround on the road and return to the start. Half marathon participants continue onto Eaglecrest/Fish Creek Road, turn right, proceed to the one mile marker, then return to the start at the trailhead.
Parking is available at the Pioneer Road trailhead parking lot or on the nearby road past the Rainforest Trail and False Outer Point. There will be a food and drink table and a porta-potty on site. There is no aid station for 5k runners. Half marathoners have an aid station at the halfway turnaround on Fish Creek Road offering water, Gatorade, a healthy snack, and candy.
Late October weather in Juneau can vary from sun and mild temperatures to cold, wet, or snowy conditions; participants are advised to dress accordingly. Road conditions may be slippery and traction may be needed. The race is held entirely on the shoulders of North Douglas Highway and Fish Creek Road, so runners should be mindful of traffic and exercise caution when passing others while staying out of traffic.
