Event overview
The Halloween 5K and Monster Mile takes place on October 24, 2026 in Stafford, VA. The event program includes:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Kids Run
- 5K (Stafford School Employees only)
Registration opens on December 31, 2025. Listed entry fees are $32.50 for the general 5K, $20 for the 1 Mile Kids Run, and $30 for the employee 5K. Age eligibility is specified for each event: the 5K is open to ages 5 to 110, and the 1 Mile Kids Run is open to ages 3 to 12.
Logistics and rules
Packet pick up is offered on two evenings before race day at local locations: Fleet Feet Fredericksburg (1993 Carl D. Silver Parkway) and the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center (1600 Mine Road), with additional packet pick up available on race morning near the restrooms by fields 7 and 8. Parking is available at Embrey Mill Park, 1600 Mine Road. Restroom facilities are located near the start/finish and inside the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center.
Strollers are permitted in the 5K but should start toward the back. Dogs are not permitted. There is no paper registration; registration is online only. Race entries are nontransferable and nonrefundable. Both race courses are USATF certified. The event benefits Project Lifesaver with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
Awards and other notes
Costumes are encouraged and prizes are awarded for best costumes. All participants receive a long-sleeve t-shirt and a custom finisher's medal if registered before the t-shirt deadline on October 10. 5K awards include overall top three male and female and top three in age divisions; overall awards are based on gun time and age group awards on chip time. The 1 Mile awards go to the top three male and female in each specified age division. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
