Halloween 5K and Monster Mile - Stafford
The 11th Annual Halloween 5K and Monster Mile takes place in Stafford on October 24, 2026, at 1600 Mine Road, Stafford, VA 22554. The event includes a 5K race and a 1 mile kids run, and it is the fourth race in the 2026 Stafford Race Series.
The event benefits Project Lifesaver in partnership with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Project Lifesaver is described as a search and rescue program operated by public safety agencies, designed for at-risk individuals who are prone to wandering. Its primary mission is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with cognitive conditions that increase wandering risk.
Costumes are encouraged and prizes are awarded for the best costumes. All participants receive a long-sleeve t-shirt and a custom finisher's medal if registered before the t-shirt deadline on October 10. Registration is online only; there is no paper registration. Race transfers and refunds are not allowed, and a friend or family member may pick up a participant's race packet if needed.
For the Monster Mile, the path along Mine Road parallels the course; adults who wish to run near a child should use the path unless the child is four years old or younger. Strollers are permitted in the 5K, with stroller participants asked to start toward the back. Dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
