Haunted Carnival on the Waterfront
The Halloween 5 and 10K takes place at the Hamilton waterfront, centered around the HMCS Haida National Historic Site and HMCS Star. This family-friendly event is open to participants of all ages and abilities, featuring a festive atmosphere with music and a "Haunted Carnival" theme. The course runs along the water, starting and finishing near Williams Fresh Cafe.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 10 km run or walk
- 5 km run or walk
- 1 km "Spooky" run for children
The event encourages the use of costumes, and prizes are awarded for the best outfits. Participants receive a finisher medal inspired by the character Pennywise. For the first 500 registered runners, a themed umbrella is also provided. After the race, hot chili is served to participants.
In addition to the in-person races, virtual options are available for the 5 km and 10 km distances, allowing runners to submit their times via a mobile app to receive a digital certificate. The event supports local fundraising efforts, including McMaster Children’s Hospital and Hamilton Food Share. Non-perishable food items are also collected on-site.
Race kits can be picked up the day before the event at a local running store in Stoney Creek or on the morning of the race at the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
