Half Moon Bay Beach Safety Run
The Half Moon Bay Beach Safety Run is a destination running event at Pillar Point Harbor, 1 Johnson Pier, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019. It features multiple short-distance running events along the waterfront and nearby marsh trail.
The courses include a 5K and a 10K that run along the Pacific coastline, pass Pillar Point Harbor and its docks of fishing boats, and use sections of the Pillar Point Marsh Trail, with ocean views and sea breeze. A noncompetitive Kids Fun Run (one quarter mile) for ages 10 and under concludes the morning.
Distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- Kids Fun Run (0.25 miles, ages 10 and under)
- Child-in-stroller option available for the 5K and 10K
The event is organized by and benefits the Arunay Foundation, a nonprofit that works to reduce beach accidents and coastal drownings by raising awareness and educating people about sneaker waves, rip currents, and other hazardous beach conditions. Proceeds are used to support the foundation's programs, including efforts to equip beaches with life rings and to inform communities about unsafe conditions.
Fee information provided by the organizer lists $45 for each of the 5K and 10K, $15 for the Kids Fun Run, and no fee for the child-in-stroller entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
