Hades Hill Fell Race
Hades Hill is usually the final evening fell race of the season. The route begins with a steep uphill section, then levels out before a series of undulating climbs and descents over Brown Wardle, Middle Hill and Hades Hill, returning to a field finish located above the start line.
The course distance is 8 km / 5 miles with approximately 360 m ascent and is categorised BS. Entrants must be at least 18 years old. Because of limited daylight at this time of year there is a strict cut-off: anyone not reaching the top of Brown Wardle (SD 89842 18684), roughly 1.3 miles and 550 ft of climb from the start, within 24 minutes from the start will be retired from the race.
Race headquarters is the Red Lion PH, The Square, Whitworth, OL12 8PY. Pre-entry is available; pre-entry fees are £6.00 for FRA members and £8.00 for non-members. Entry on the day is £7.00 for FRA members and £9.00 for non-members.
Mandatory FRA kit is required unless organisers decide otherwise on the day. Required items include a waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and an attached hood, hat, gloves, map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food.
