Gunpowder Keg Ultra
The Gunpowder Keg Ultra is a trail race in the Bunker Hill area of Gunpowder State Park in Northern Baltimore County, Maryland. It is hosted by the Baltimore Road Runners Club (BRRC). The event offers two distances: 50K and 25K. All participants run on the same 15.5-mile loop course, which consists primarily of single-track trail with some sections of fire road and asphalt. Runners registered for the 25K complete the loop once, while 50K runners complete it twice.
Participants have the flexibility to change their target distance during the race. Everyone starts together and will be credited in the official results for the distance they actually complete. There are aid stations on the course, including two mid-loop stations and one at the 25K point/finish area. These are stocked with typical ultra running foods and drinks.
The registration fee is $20. These funds go to BRRC, a non-profit organization, and to Gunpowder State Park for maintenance. All participants are asked to bring one gallon of water. For this year, there is an optional long-sleeve t-shirt available for purchase as event swag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
