Gunpowder Keg Ultra
The Baltimore Road Runners Club hosts the Gunpowder Keg Ultra in the Bunker Hill area of Gunpowder State Park near Parkton, MD. The event uses a 15.5 mile loop composed mainly of single track with sections of fire road and short stretches of asphalt.
Distances offered:
- 25K: one circuit of the 15.5 mile loop on single track and fire road.
- 50K: two circuits of the same 15.5 mile loop.
All runners begin together and are recorded for the distance they complete; competitors may change their target distance during the event. The race is governed by a nine hour time limit. Aid support includes two staffed mid-loop aid stations and a staffed station at the 25K/finish; on hot days two unmanned water only stops may be added.
A $20 fee supports the Baltimore Road Runners Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the park. Participants are asked to bring a gallon of water and may bring snacks to share.
