Gumpathon 2026
The Gumpathon is a running event in Columbus, Ohio, that combines a road run with a screening of the 1994 film Forrest Gump. The event takes place between two locations: Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse and The Grandview Theater & Drafthouse. Participants watch the first part of the movie at a theater before departing for the run and watching the second part of the film upon arrival at the destination.
The event offers two distance options:
- 6.5 Miles: A point-to-point run starting at one theater and finishing at the other theater.
- 20 km: A round-trip run that starts at Studio 35, continues to Grandview Theater, and returns to Studio 35.
This is a non-timed fun run without electronic chip timing. Participants receive an event t-shirt, a custom pint glass, and one beer at the finish. Costumes are encouraged for all participants. The organizers provide a gear drop service where one small, labeled bag per person is transported from the start location to the finish location.
The course includes three aid stations provided with water and sports drinks. Chocolate and shrimp are also available at the midway point. Food is available for purchase from the theater kitchens throughout the event. The run takes place on city streets and participants are responsible for their own transportation back to their vehicles as no shuttles are provided. The event is held rain or shine.
